Oppo Find 5 Review

February 24, 2014

Oppo Find 5I’m sure that everyone has heard about Oppo, a giant Chinese electronics manufacturer, better known for its Blue-Ray players than for their smartphones. Well, things are changing fast, because in the last year’s February, they’ve released a high-end smartphone which challenged a lot of other smartphone beasts from the flagship class. Obviously, I’m talking about the Oppo Find 5. This baby comes with a scary amount of skills packed in a super sexy body and generally represents bad news to a lot of its competitors, as it holds a lot of features for a much smaller price than you would normally expect.
For example, you can acquire a lot of smartphone with the Oppo Find 5 (a 5 incher 1080p with 441 ppi pixel density, a quad core system on chip, a performant GPU, a 13 megapixels shooters, the list goes on and on) for a ridiculously low amount of money.
Feeling curious? Keep reading and find out more about it!
The Oppo Find 5 stands at 141.8 x 68.8 x 8.9 mm and has a weight of 165 grams. It has some very reasonable measurements and weight given the fact that it hosts a 5 inches display and if you’re used to big smartphones, handling this one will be easy peasy. Its angular design turns this fellow into a great looking device, way hotter than the Samsung Galaxy S4, if you ask me. Besides being a looker, the Oppo Find 5 is also a tough guy, as it’s very well put together and seems to be solidly built too.
The frontal part of the body is occupied by a superb 5 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a pixel density of 441 ppi and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2. The image quality is one of the best I’ve seen, offering some punchy colors, a great contrast, very wide viewing angles and an excellent sunlight legibility. Way to go, guys!
Oppo Find 5 silverThe Oppo Find 5 comes loaded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdrago Pro chipset, holding a quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor, Adreno 320 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. The smartphone is available in two versions, with 16 or 32 GB of internal storage.
The user interface has been customized here and there for making it look even prettier and you’ll surely like it, as browsing through it is very smooth and pleasant. The smartphone is a nice, snappy performer and everything works like a charm.
For taking pictures, the Oppo Find 5 comes packed with a 13 megapixels camera with autofocus that snaps photos at a maximum resolution of 3120 x 4308 pixels and has a dual-LED flash companion for assisting in low light conditions. The camera application reveals support for geo-tagging, face detection, touch focus, HDR mode, and a selft timer and so on. The photos produced offer a great image quality, with accurate colors and a good amount of resolved detail.
Oppo Find 5 screenThe video camera is also a nice performer and produces some nice 1080p videos at 30 fps.
A front facing 1.9 MP camera is also present for making video calls.
Some other goodies found in the Oppo Find 5’s basket are Google Now, a helpful voice assistant that learns a lot from your searches or habits and will display information which it considers as being relevant to you. You also get a GPS receiver with A-GPS support and Google Maps for navigation, a great browser for surfing the web, an YouTube application, a wealthy connectivity package (which includes support for quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, tri/quad-band 3G with HSPA, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n with DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct and Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, NFC and microUSB 2.0.
For listening to music, you get a great music player that searches for lyrics and features the Dolby Mobile and Dirac HD sound enhancements, several equalizer presets and knows how to manage 16-bit FLAC files. The audio quality is great.
In terms of battery life, the Oppo Find 5 features a 2500 mAh battery which keeps the precious alive for a day and a half under a moderate usage – calling, texting, surfing the web, taking pictures – you name it.
In conclusion, the Oppo Find 5 really hits the spot with its great skills and affordable price, you don’t easily find a phone within its price range with such a big amount of features.
