The world of phablets is a little shaken, as a new champ is making its grand entrance and threatens especially its big opponent from the Galaxy Note series, we all know who I’m referring to – the Note 3. The champ that I’m talking about is the LG G Pro 2, a phablet which is bad news for everyone as it comes with some great specs, a refurbished appearance and a thirst for success and popularity. If you’re interested in big screens and top-notch features, keep reading and find out more details about the LG G Pro 2, as it promises to deliver a lot and deserves a good amount of attention for those skills in brags about.
The Korean retail package that holds the G Pro 2 comes with a lot of goodies, such as a charger head, a microSB cable for charging the handset and making data connections, a pair of headphones, a spare battery and a tabletop battery charger.
Now, let’s take a good look at the phablet and analyze its looks and measurements. The G Pro 2 stands at 157.9 x 81.9 x 8.3 mm and has a weight of 172 grams, which is reasonable for a device with a 5.9 inches screen. The bezels have been minimized as much as it was possible for making the phablet more compact and manageable. Its thin profile is also important for that matter and makes the handset look very sleek and elegant. Its back is made from polycarbonate and looks quite sturdy and reliable, yet feels kind of slippery, so you might want to pay a little more attention when managing the phablet with one hand.
The LG G Pro 2 comes with a 5.9 inches True IPS+ LCD capacitive touchscreen that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a pixel density of 373 ppi and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The image quality is great, with punchy and beautiful colors, very wide viewing angles and a good contrast. The handset is also perfectly usable under direct sunlight.
Now, let’s see what’s cooking on the inside. The G Pro 2 comes loaded with the latest and greatest from Android, v4.4.2 KitKat and features the Optimus user interface, which improves the overall user experience. The Knock Code functionality is a nice addition, as it enables you to unlock your handset with a custom knock pattern. Some other cool features are Smart Screen, which “looks” through the front facing camera for detecting if you’re looking at the screen and keeps your phone unlocked while you are. Smart Video does the same thing and pauses a video if it “sees” you looking away. There are a lot more goodies offered by the G Pro 2 and the overall user experience is wonderful, I give you that. Running through the interface goes nice and smooth, as it should, and for this, we have to be thankful to its hardware.

The LG G Pro 2 holds inside a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, having a quad-core 2.26 GHz Krait 400 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, 3 GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB of internal memory. The storage can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 64 GB. You can’t go wrong with these specs, and the G Pro 2 is a powerful performer, as expected.
One of the most important features that comes with the G Pro 2 is its camera. The handset is equipped with a 13 MP autofocus snapper that captures pictures with a maximum resolution of 4208 x 3120 pixels. The camera has a LED flash for assisting it in low light situations and has support for geo tagging, face detection, scenes, effects and optical image stabilization. The pictures taken with the G Pro 2 are really great, with beautiful and accurate colors, good contrast and a high amount of resolved detail.
The video camera is also very capable, being able to shoot some gorgeous 4K videos at 30 fps, 1080p @ 60 and 30 fps and 720p@120 fps.
For listening to music, the LG G Pro 2 offers you a nice music player that supports .FLAC files, among others, and has several equalizer presets (a customizable one too). The audio quality is top notch.
The video player is also a good perfoermer, being able to play even DivX and AC3 files and has subtitle support too.
The connectivity package is also very rich, as the LG G Pro 2 comes with support for quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, quad-band 3G with HSPA, LTE cat4, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, NFC, microUSB 2.0, USB host and On-The-Go. An Infra Red port is also available for allowing you to control your home appliances.
Surfing the web on the LG G Pro 2 is extremely pleasant due to the beautiful, large screen and very capable browsers. The phablet comes with Google Chrome and the Android browser, which has been customized here and there by LG. The pages are loaded fast and you’re given a plethora of options for managing your Internet activities.
In the phablet’s basket full of goodies are also a GPS receiver with GLONASS, A-GPS and S-GPS support and Google Maps for navigation, the Polaris Office 5 for viewing document files, the Dolby music sound enhancement for boosting the audio quality, Google Now as a personal assistant and much, much more. The LG G Pro 2 is definitely an impressive device and will be a great choice to make if you’re searching for a premium performer and a large screen + excellent camera are must-have’s.
