Oppo Find 7aAfter more than a year after releasing the Oppo Find 5, an impressive device that brought a lot of impressive features on its list of specs, Oppo is proud to launch two new premium devices meant to refresh the series and also to catch the attention of smartphone consumers. In the following review, I’m going to talk about the Oppo Find 7a, the sibling of the Find 7. While it’s not as brilliant as its brother, the list of skills mastered by it is long and full of impressive features that will certainly fit the needs of a lot of people. It you’re looking for a top-notch device for fulfilling your daily needs, check out this neat handset designed by the Chinese.
The Oppo Find 7a comes in a retail box accompanied by a microUSB cable, a single piece pair of headphones and a fast charger which loads the handset with 4.5A. The phone also comes with a screen protector applied, which is pretty cool.
The handset is very appealing, maintaining Oppo’s reputation of making truly attractive smartphones. It measures 152.6 x 75 x 9.2 mm and has a weight of 170 grams, having some reasonable measurements and weight for a device that boasts a 5.5 inches screen. If you’re used to handling phablets, managing this one will be a piece of cake. The device is made from a high quality plastic and has a textured pattern on its back which is very subtle and elegant and also offers a better hand grip. The handset seems to be solid and very well put together, not to mention extremely attractive.
Oppo Find 7a in my handThe Oppo Find 7a packs a 5.5 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that boasts a resolutions of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a pixel density of 401 ppi and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3. The image quality is excellent, with vibrant colors, a good contrast and very wide viewing angles. The display is also highly responsive and will work with gloves too, which is a neat addition.
The Oppo Find 7a comes with a tweaked software, as it features their own Color v.12 platform, which is based on Android’s Jelly Bean. The user interface is very friendly and intuitive, not to mention pretty. It holds a whole bunch of skins and features, just waiting for you to explore it and enjoy its offerings.
In terms of hardware, the Find 7a is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AB chipset, having a quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 128 GB. You can’t go wrong with these specs and the handset proves itself as being a magnificent performer, threatening a lot of big names from the high-end league by matching with their performance and delivering a great user experience.
The Oppo Find 7a is also an excellent camera phone. It sports an impressive 13 MP snapper that captures stills with a maximum resolution of 4128 x 3096 pixels and is assisted by a dual-LED flash in low light conditions. It holds a Sony Exmor IMX214 BSI 1/3.06” backside illuminated sensor and its lens has an f/2.0 aperture. The camera is able to deliver 50 MP interpolated snaps and also stands out of the crowd with its Slow Shutter mode, which offers an exposure from 1 to 32 seconds. The image quality is excellent, with accurate colors, good contrast and a high amount of resolved detail.
For those of you who frequently take selfies, there’s a secondary 5 MP camera which also provides a good image quality and if your pretty face isn’t pretty enough, you have a Beauty mode for fixing imperfections.
For video recording, the smartphone is capable of producing some great 4K, 1080p and 720p videos at 30 fps.
At the connectivity section, the Oppo Find 7a comes packed with a lot of goodies, such as quad-band GSM, GPRS and EDGE, penta-band 3G, quad-band LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi a/ac/b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Hotspot, microUSB 2.0 with support for USB on-the-go, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and NFC.
For browsing, you have the stock Android browser and Google Chrome. Both of them provide simple and friendly interfaces and will offer a pleasant user experience while browsing, as the pages are loaded very fast and you have a lot of features and settings.
Some other useful features offered by the Oppo Find 7a are its audio and video players, which work like a charm, a GPS receiver with A-GPS and GLONASS support, Google Maps for navigation, Google Now (an useful assistant), the Kingsoft Office for viewing and editing document files, a file manager and so on. There’s pretty much everything you’ll need from a smartphone stuffed inside the pretty body of the Oppo Find 7a.
The smartphone comes with a 2,800 mAh battery and will endure more than two days under a moderate usage.
